Giving Grief a Good Name

Providing support for individuals, sustainability for a nonprofit

Grieving is a natural process that affects everyone at some point in their lives—it’s universal. The Good Grief Center for Bereavement Support (GGC) is a nonprofit that offers services to support grieving individuals at no cost. However, in order to keep many of those services free, the organization had to find a way to avoid the Catch 22 of all nonprofits—no money, no mission; no mission, no money.

GGC’s move toward self-sustainability involved the development and promotion of several innovative products and programs, including a Grief in the Workplace program and a unique Care Package. Pipitone Group helped plan, orchestrate and implement marketing and communications campaigns for these products and services. Elements included a redesign of the Care Package; posters, billboards and invitations for special events and conferences; and a comprehensive media relations campaign that garnered the organization media coverage—and sales of its products and services—across the country.

To take care of others, you need to take care of yourself first. The Good Grief Center continues on its road to self-sustainability by supporting individuals and organizations in dealing with grieving, and Pipitone Group is proud—very proud—to be a part of that mission.
